Pont-Saint-Pierre

Pont -Saint -Pierre is a commune with 1151 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Eure in the Haute-Normandie region. It belongs to the arrondissement Les Andelys and the canton of Fleury- sur- Andelle. The village lies on the banks of the river Andelle.

History

Saint- Nicolas- de -Pont -Saint -Pierre was from 1790 to 1801 chief town of a canton. 1809 Saint -Pierre- de -Pont -Saint -Pierre was incorporated. 1905 changed its name to the town of Saint- Nicolas- de -Pont -Saint- Pierre to Pont -Saint -Pierre.

In the Valley of Andelle is spinning Fontaine- Guérard, its construction is influenced by Gothic architecture. It was built in the 19th century and destroyed in a fire shortly afterwards.
