Pontanus (crater)

Pontanus is an impact crater on the Moon's front west of the Mare Nectaris, east of the crater Apianus and south of Sacrobosco. The crater is heavily eroded and uneven inside.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Italian humanist Giovanni Pontano.
