Ponte (rione of Rome)
Ponte (Italian for Bridge ) is the V. Rione (neighborhood ) in Rome. It includes the left bank of the Tiber in the former Champ de Mars towards the Castel Sant'Angelo.
History
The name refers to the Ponte Sant'Angelo bridge, the main link for the pilgrims to St. Peter's. Originally the fourth part of the Rione Borgo.
