Pontifical Bolivarian University

The Pontifical University Bolivariana (Spanish: Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, in short: UPB ) is a Colombian University of pontifical right.

The University was founded on 15 September 1936, the Archbishop of Medellín, Tiberio Salazar Herrera Catholic University Bolivariana. In 1945, Pope Pius XII. elevation to a university of pontifical right. The spirit of the university is meant for the Bolivarian Espiritu, a Philosophy of José Manuel Sierra founded on Simón Bolívar.

In addition to its headquarters in Medellín are offshoots in Bogotá, Bucaramanga, Monteria and Palmira. About 21,000 students are in undergraduate programs, 77, 24 masters programs and doctoral study programs enrolled 7 (2006).
