Pontus Wikner

Pontus Wikner (* 1837, † 1888; actually Karl Pontus Wikner ) was a Swedish philosopher and writer.

Wikner was 1863-1884 lecturer of theoretical philosophy at Uppsala. In 1884 he accepted a professorship in philosophy in Christiania. Wikner was a student of Christopher Jacob Boström. Later, he saw God in the holy will and stood against Boströms doctrine of absolute reason. Wikner coined, besides Viktor Rydberg, the Swedish religious idealism of the 19th century.
