Popielewo, Bytów County

Popielewo ( German Pöppelhof, Kashubian Pòpielewò ) is a small town in Poland and is located in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. It belongs to the Gmina Trzebielino ( Treblinka ) in a circle Bytów ( Buetow ).

Geographical location

Popielewo is located on the south bank of the Wieprza ( Wipper ) in the west of the Pomeranian Province about 20 kilometers north of the former county town Miastko ( Rummelsburg ) and 35 kilometers west of the present county seat Bytów ( Buetow ). The village is on the main road 21 in the branch Bożanka ( Friedrichshuld ) or the State Railway line 405 ( station: Ciecholub ( Techlipp ) ) can be achieved.

History

The small town in the western tip of the Puszcza Słupska (formerly Heath Poppiel ) was settled under the name Pottack, although there was already a new settlement of the same name nearby. 1575 appears the name in a Lehnsbrief the Zitzewitz family and joins to other start-ups south of the Wieprza ( Wipper ) to. In the Kirchenmatrikel of expiry ( today Polish: Dretyń ) occupied in 1590 Pottack three farms are called. The owners changed since then by the family Zitzewitz from Varzin ( Warcino ) about the family Brünnow, the family von Kleist to the family of Kameke.

Pöppelhof 1812 counted a total of 41 residents with 10 houses. The population grew until 1843 to 86, 1871 was already 111, but then decreased to 1925 to 60 residents in 8 houses from. 1928 Pöppelhof was a district of the rural community Brotzen.

Until 1945 the village belonged to the district Rummelsburg in the district of the Prussian province of Pomerania Pomerania. As part of the community Brotzen it belonged to the official and the civil registry district Kicking ( Dretyń ).

Since 1945, the now -called Popielewo place is a village located in powiat Bytowski in the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship ( 1975-1998 Voivodeship Stolp ). It belongs to the rural community Trzebielino ( Treblinka ) within the Office Bożanka Schulz ( Friedrichshuld ). Today here are registered only 5 inhabitants.

Church

Until 1945, the population of Pöppelhof almost exclusively Protestant denomination. The village was with Friedrichshuld ( Bożanka ) Wocknin ( Okunino ) and Brandheide ( Zgorzele ) the parish in the parish Contact ( Dretyń ), which also includes the branch church Brotzen ( Broczyna ) with Börnen ( Damowo ) Turzig ( Tursko ) and Wangerin ( Węgorzyno ) belonged. The parish is part of the deanery Miastko ( Rummelsburg ) in the Diocese of Koszalin - Kolobrzeg of the Catholic Church in Poland. Here surviving Protestant church members are assigned to Poland in the parish of Holy Cross Church in Slupsk ( Stolp ) in the Diocese of Pomerania - Greater Poland the Evangelical-Augsburg Church. Next Kirchdorf is Wołcza Wielka (Great Volz ).

School

The children from Pöppelhof went to school before 1945 in Brotzen ( Broczyna ). The local school house was built in 1928. 1937 taught here teacher Fritz Mundt 35 students.
