Popular Unity Party (Tunisia)

The Party of National Unity (Arabic حزب الوحدة الشعبية, French Parti de l' unité populaire, PUP) is a Tunisian political party that was founded in January 1981 and is the result of the movement of the unity of the people of Ahmed Ben Salah.

Approved on 19 November 1983, counted after the parliamentary elections in Tunisia in 2009 eleven representatives in the Chamber of Deputies; she has participated in all elections since 1986. In the selected in October 2011, the Constituent Assembly, the party is not represented.

Mohamed Belhaj Amor represented the Party of National Unity in the presidential election in 1999, where he received 0.31 % of votes. The party then turned to its Secretary General Mohamed Bouchiha, which received 3.78% of votes in the 2004 elections and 5.01 % in 2009.
