Porce III Dam

Porce III is a dam on the Río Porce in the province of Antioquia in Colombia.

The building is in the mountain range of northern central Andes, 90 km northeast of the city of Medellín. The shut-off, a CFR dam is 151 m high and 426 m long. On the left abutment is the spillway, they can dissipate through their four openings 10,850 cubic meters of water per second through a spillway chute on a hill. The connected hydropower plant operates with four turbines and has according to several sources with an installed capacity of 660 or 844 megawatts. 4,254 GWh per year can be generated on average.
