The Porcelaine is one of the FCI (No. 30, Gr. 6, sec 1.2) recognized French breed.

Origin and History

The Porcelaine has its ancestors in the great hunting dogs of the Middle Ages. Mid-19th century it was crossed with the Somerset Harrier, then still came the Grand Gascon Saintongeois. The breed was strengthened, so that he was shown from 1898 to exhibitions. The name should therefore come, that his fur shines like porcelain.

Description

Up to 58 -cm and 28 kg heavier hunting dog, very white with rounded orange spots. The hair is short, fine, dense and silky gloss, the ears are very large, lobed and when they are placed to the front, they extend to the tip of the nose.
