Porch
Gatehouse or gatehouses are larger, independent gate systems in the sense of a separate building or a functional unit as part of a larger building.
The free-standing gate buildings include main gate such as the Arch of Triumph, the Indian Torana, the Japanese and the Chinese Torii Scheintor Pailou.
In Egypt, there is the pylon as a gatehouse and in Greece the propylon with numerous special forms.
City gates and castle gates (often in the form of gate lodges ) are part of a fortification.
The interior of a Torbaues (with a triumphal arch, the open area under the arch for example) is called the gatehouse. The mortuary temple at Saqqara or the Gate of Xerxes at Persepolis have remarkable Torhallen.
