Porfirio Lobo Sosa

Porfirio Lobo Sosa ( born December 22, 1947 in Trujillo ) is a Honduran politician of PNH and was from 2010 to 2014 president of the country.

Life

Lobo was born in Trujillo. He grew up on a ranch near Juticalpa, Department of Olancho. His parents are Porfirio José Lobo López and Rosa Sosa Hernández de Lobo. After his schooling at a Catholic school in Juticalpa Lobo first studied at the Instituto San Francisco in Tegucigalpa and then at the University of Miami in the United States economics. There Lobo achieved a bachelor's degree and then returned to Honduras, where he worked in the family farm. At the same time Lobo taught in the next eleven years, political economy and English at La Fraternidad Institute in Juticalpa.

In addition to his professional work Lobo became politically active in the Partido Nacional de Honduras and grew over the years within the party on. 1990 Lobo was first elected as a deputy in the National Congress. From 2002 to 2006 he was president of the Honduran National Congress. 2005 Lobo was a candidate of the Partido Nacional in the presidential election and defeated his rival Manuel Zelaya.

After Manuel Zelaya attempted to conduct a referendum whether to be voted parallel to the presidential elections on the convening of a Constituent Assembly, he was overthrown with the backing of parliament and Supreme Court of the country by the military and Gerbracht out of the country. Following Roberto Micheletti acted as de facto president of the country. The presidential elections on 29 November 2009 were as planned, but instead under the control of rebels. Lobo reached in this election to official figures, nearly 56 percent of the vote, making January 2010 the new president of Honduras.

In the presidential elections in 2013, Lobo could not run again because re-election is not possible. Juan Orlando Hernández was elected his successor and took office on 27 January 2014.
