Porfirio Rubirosa

Porfirio Rubirosa Ariza, ( born January 22, 1909 in San Francisco de Macoris in the Cibao region, † July 5, 1965 in Paris) was a diplomat of the Dominican Republic, polo player, race car driver and Playboy.

Life

Rubirosa was born the son of a general. He grew up in Paris, after his father worked in the Embassy of the Dominican Republic. At age 17, he returned to his home and initially studied law. The study he broke off and went to the military.

Rubirosa then met the daughter of the dictator Rafael Leonidas Trujillo Molina, Señorita Flor de Oro Trujillo, know. The two married, but were divorced soon. His father appointed him as diplomats in France where he revived. His other wives included actress Danielle Darrieux, the Doris Duke and Barbara Hutton Millionenerbinnen as well as the photo model Odile Rodin. He became a pilot, race car driver ( he started several times in the 24- hour race at Le Mans), polo player, playboy, and went in rows relationships with women. In addition to the known relation to Zsa Zsa Gabor, the author Andreas Zielcke lists numerous other relationships: Dolores del Rio, Ava Gardner, Joan Crawford, Jayne Mansfield, Marilyn Monroe, Susan Hayward, Christina Onassis, La Môme Moineau, Evita Perón.

He died at age 56 in a car accident in Paris when he crashed his Ferrari 250 GT Cabriolet on the Champs Elysées against a chestnut tree. An accident causes a steering gear damage was indicated.
