Port Penrhyn

Port Penrhyn ( Welsh: Porth Penrhyn ) is a port, which is located east of Bangor in North Wales. It lies at the mouth of the River Cegin. During the heyday of the slate industry in Wales in the 19th century, this port was of great importance. From there, the slate was shipped, which was in the Penrhyn Quarry, the then largest slate quarry in the world, broken down.

The shipment of slate from Port Penrhyn from the first time is for 1713, when 14 ships transported a total of 415,000 shingles to Dublin. The port expanded after Richard Pennant himself took over the management of the Penrhyn estate. 1790, among others, a stone quay was built.
