Portaro was a Portuguese car brand.

Company History

The company Sociedade de Electromecânica Automóveis from Lisbon began in 1974 with the production of SUVs under License from ARO. The brand name is composed from Portugal and ARO. The export to other countries took place from 1978. 1998 production ended. Annually originated about 700 vehicles.

Models

First there was the 240 models with a four-cylinder Renault engine with 1300 cc and 250 D with a four-cylinder diesel engine of Daihatsu with 2530 cc, both with either two-wheel or four-wheel drive. In 1983, the 260 Turbo Celta in several body styles and with either petrol or diesel engine. 1985 published the 230 PV with a four cylinder engine with 1207 cc and 69 hp and 230 DCM with a Volvo engine.
