Possibilism (politics)

Possibilism (French possible: possible) refers to a 1882 resulting reformist direction within the French socialist who wanted to be content with practically achievable socialist goals.

The Possiblisten presented for the first time with Alexandre Millerand a member of the Government in the Cabinet of Waldeck -Rousseau (1899-1902 ). In 1890 there was a split in Broussisten (after Paul Brousse, 1844-1912 ) and the more revolutionary oriented Allemanisten ( after Jean Allemane, 1843-1935 ). The Possibilists joined in 1901 along with others in the Parti Socialiste Français. This, in turn, went in 1905 in the " Section Française de l' International ouvrière " ( SFIO ) on.
