Post and Telecom of Kosovo

The PTK Sh. A. ( abbreviation for alb Posta dhe Telekomunikacioni i Kosovës SH A., German Post and Telecommunications of Kosovo society, Serbian: .. Posta i Telekomunikacije Kosova D. D ) is the national telecommunications company in Kosovo.

History

The company was formed in 1959 as a successor to the regional branch of the former Yugoslav state-owned company, which was responsible as a monopolist for the post office, telephone lines and telegraph services.

On September 30, 1990, the collapse was followed; due to a law adopted by the government of Slobodan Milošević law had to leave the premises of the company all Albanian employees.

During the Kosovo War, all the company's premises were destroyed. After that, the main building was rebuilt by KFOR, UNMIK and some former representatives of the PTK.

On 29 June 2005 the name of Posta dhe Telekomunikacioni i Kosovës SH was. A. on PTK Sh. A. changed. On the same day shareholders decided to invest 550 million euros in the company.

On 25 June 2009 the PTK founded together with other companies in Albania the mobile operator Plus. PTK is a shareholder of the company.

The PTK has the form of a joint stock company and is divided into three branches:

  • Posta e Kosovës, responsible for the postal service,
  • The Telekomi i Kosovës responsible for fixed telephony and Internet
  • And the mobile phone company Vala for mobile telephony.

2009, the company employed approximately 3,205 employees.
