Dikaliumnonahydridorhenat (VII) is an inorganic chemical compound consisting of the group of the rhenates.
Production and representation
Dikaliumnonahydridorhenat (VII) can be obtained by a two step reaction. Thereby Dinatriumnonahydridorhenat (VII) is first reacted with barium hydroxide, and reacting the resulting intermediate with a mixture of potassium sulphate and potassium hydroxide.
Properties
Dikaliumnonahydridorhenat (VII) is a diamagnetic white powder that is soluble in water and is stabilized by alkali. It is slightly soluble in methanol. At normal moist air it is unstable with the formation of perrhenate and carbonate. It has a hexagonal crystal structure with space group P62m (a = 960.7 pm, c = 550.8 pm ). The hydrogen-rich compounds K2ReH9, BaReH9 and K2TcH9 contain complex anions, the metal atoms are in tricapped trigonal prisms of hydrogen atoms. Dikaliumnonahydridorhenat (VII ) was discovered in the 1960's as the first complex Übergangsmetallhydridverbindung.
