Potok, Lubusz Voivodeship

Potok ( German Pattag ) is a village in the Polish rural community Przewóz district Zary ( Lubusz Voivodeship ). With the 1945 war-ravaged neighboring Jamnitz Pattag formed until 1938 the church Jamnitz - Pattag.

Geography

Potok is located on the Lusatian Neisse River downstream from Przewóz ( Priebus ). Southeast is on German Neisse side of the small town Werdeck, with the Jamnitz - Pattag 1938-1945 was the community Neisse Brück. The province road 350 leads past Potok between the border towns Łęknica and Przewóz.

Recorded mention found the village when in 1430 the highwayman Fritsche Gradis confessed that he and his companions in a wood at the Patag received two sheaves of grain and had accommodations for Patag bey Prebus. Later, the mayor of the robber baron Hans von Horn ( † 1513 ), son of Peter von Horn on small Duben, Food and temporarily oats have supplied.

Since there was Pattag in the precincts of the city Priebus, this objection raised against the person sitting in Pattag Schneider. Balthasar von Metzrode testified then that has always had a tailor in town, and Duke George of Saxony allowed that he might still not work in Pattag. Also witnessed is an iron hammer in Pattag.

Duke Balthasar von Sagan belehnte 1463 Kaspar Rutschitz with Pattag. Heintze Haugwitz was towards the end of the century owners of Pattag. He, who was also accused of highway robbery, sold the annual interest to the parish priest of Priebus. Soon after, must Pattag be divided into two portions, in 1543 Balthasar was a fief of Metzrode by Duke Maurice of Saxony with a half of the village, and the other belonged to Lawrence of Haug joke.

The village was in 1671 called to the ducal chamber, but lehnsweise awarded to Hans George of Liege. Only under Peter of Courland Jamnitz and Pattag around 1800 were listed as princely chamber goods. Because of the small size of both villages were considered together mostly in the subsequent period in population surveys.

By resolution of the circle Sagan came Jamnitz - Pattag 1932 Circle Rothenburg. In this the Church was united with the opposite place Werdeck to April 1, 1938 to the municipality of Nysa Brück.

After the Second World War, the village in 1945 was located east of the Oder- Neisse line and thus came to Poland. Under the name of the village Potok came to the powiat Żarski, the Polish part of the former Sorauer circle.

Place name

The German place name has been handed a document next to Pattag as Patag, Patach and Pattach. After Pohl its meaning is doubtful, and perhaps comes from the Sorbian word pata ' mother hen, mushroom ' from.
