Pouilly-sur-Saône

Pouilly -sur -Saône is a commune with 663 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Côte- d'Or in the Burgundy region. It belongs to Canton Seurre and municipal association Rives de Saône.

Geography

Pouilly -sur -Saône is located on the Saône between Glanon in the northwest and Chamblanc in the east, 3 miles northwest of Seurre and 21 kilometers east of Beaune.

Attractions

From the original medieval castle only two roundels on the Saône are left. They were built in 1475 for Charles de Stainville. The present castle was built in 1761 by architect Jean -Antoine Caristie for Philibert de Gagne Perrigny. The pavilion at the western end of the main building was added at the beginning of the 19th century. The chapel was built after 1824. The castle is now in private ownership. In the park of the castle there is a pool which is decorated with statues and statues that stand on the staircase behind the castle. They date from the 16th century.
