Požega, Serbia

Požega (Serbian Пожега ) is a town in western Serbia, 24 km east of Uzice. In order to withdraw the city from other places of the same name, is also the name Uzicka Požega in use.

The city now has about 56,000 inhabitants. Požega is drained by the river Skrapež and lies at an altitude of 311 m geographic. The area of the county Požega is 426 km ². The county Požega belongs to the district Zlatibor ( Serbian:: Zlatibor okrug / Златиборски округ )

Native to Požega since 1947 the Combine Budimka that both alcohol ( plum brandy and juniper berries refined plum brandy ) produced beef, pickles, and fruit juices, especially apple juice. In the 1980s, the plant was brought extensively on the cutting edge of technology. The planned privatization of Budimka was scheduled for March 21, 2008, but was postponed.

Within the town, attractions include a railroad museum with numerous exhibits of the former Yugoslav narrow gauge railways.
