In Praça Valley at Renovica

The Praça ( Cyrillic Прача ) is a left tributary of the Drina in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It rises near the village Vrhprača (municipality Pale ) on the northern slopes of the Jahorina Mountains, about 20 km southeast of Sarajevo. In Ustipraca the river flows by 61 km in the Drina.

Run

The source of the Praça located below the mountain Paloševina at 1540 meters above sea level. NN in the National Park Jahorina. In the first 10 km the Praça Valley divides the mountain ranges of the Jahorina and Ravna Planina. In Podgrab below the 1050 m high Vitez Pass the Praça receives tributaries from the west and from the northern Romanija Mountains. It runs from now consistently in an easterly direction through a deep, narrow gorge between Jahorina and Romanija and crosses the municipality Pale - Praca the canton Bosnian Podrinje, with its main Praca. In the Bosnia war, the gorge is the only transport corridor through the inaccessible and sparsely populated mountain range east of Sarajevo was hard fought. Even today, large parts of the canyon are mined; most of the settlements in the valley are heavily damaged.

South of Rogatica flows to the light coming from the north Rakitnica the Praça. In the last 11 km, in addition the main road 19 passes (Sarajevo- Rogatica - Visegrad ) through the Praça Valley. In Ustipraca the river empties into the pent-up here by the Visegrad dam Drina.

Traffic

The Praça Canyon is the most important transport corridor from Sarajevo to Visegrad. This has been used in the past for the route of the Bosnian Eastern Railway and the main road 5. The former, however, was decommissioned in the late 1970s; The second consists runs east from Praca place on the former railway line and has not yet developed.
