Praia da Marinha

The Praia da Marinha is a beach in the Algarve, Portugal 's southernmost province. He belongs to the administrative district of Lagoa and is located on the so-called " rock Algarve ". Many tourists of the nearby, about 5 km from the resort of Carvoeiro use the beach for swimming, diving and snorkeling.

The beach is protected to the north by 30 m high cliffs. The rocks are holding in the low season cooler north winds, so that you can even sunbathe in winter at high pressure weather with pleasant temperatures. You can reach the beach by driving east of Carvoeiro in the direction of the seaside resort Benagil. From there, about 2 km from beach is well signposted.

Above the beach there is a large parking lot. Eastward is the access to the beach which is reached by some stairs. The beach is divided into three sections - the first area 80 m × 80 m with a snack bar closes 150 meters in the west direction, a narrow range ( 10 to 20 m). At the west end of the beach it goes up to the third section, a larger area of about 60 × 60 m. A situated further west section is accessible only by overcoming the remains of a collapsed in 1998, Rock.

In summer you can at the beach sun loungers and pedal boats. In the immediate vicinity are the largest sea caves in the Algarve to those in the season fishing boats offer trips.

The car park above the beach is a starting point to a cliff walk to the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora da Rocha and Carvoeiro. Since 2010, the trail is well marked.

The nearest beach in eastern direction is the Albandeira, about 1.5 km away and the nearest beach in West direction is the Praia Benagil.
