The pulpit is a 1613 m high mountain in the territory of the city of Bad Reichenhall and is next to Hochstaufen, Zwiesel (mountain ) and the lower mountain to the local mountains of the city. He belongs to the Lattengebirge in the Berchtesgaden Alps. He is (1925-1928 Year ) developed by the Predigtstuhlbahn, the oldest still in its original state propelled cable car in the world. The hill station is located near the summit at 1583 m altitude and is connected to the pulpit Hotel. About 200 meters from the hotel is the Teisendorfer hut, which is managed since 2004 by the DAV section Teisendorf a self catering cottage. The pulpit is a scenic mountain. One can see the entire valley of Bad Reichenhall and admire the surrounding mountains. The pulpit was formerly a popular ski resort with three lifts, until the lift was shut down in 1994. The planned in the 2006/2007 season reopening of Skibetriebs had to be postponed due to lack of snow in the winter of 2007 /2008.

There have been efforts by the private sector to build a 55 -meter-high statue of Jesus near the mountain station at the summit of the mountain. It should be 22 m higher than the model in Rio de Janeiro. Harry Voss Mountain, the initiator, and Angerer the Elder, the artist and architect, presented the plans for the statue of Christ in a press conference in late May 2008 at the pulpit before. However, the City Council decided at its meeting of 18 September 2008 to provide a building permit in view.
