Preguinho

João Coelho net called Preguinho ( born February 8, 1905 in Rio de Janeiro, † October 1, 1979 ) was a Brazilian national football team. He participated in the first World Cup in 1930 partly in Uruguay, where he was able to achieve three goals.

Preguinho played during his career for Fluminense, where he scored a total of 129 goals. 1924, 1936, 1937 and 1938 he was the Campeonato Carioca win with Fluminense, 1930 and 1932, he was top scorer in that league. He was a very variable athlete ( he also practiced the sports of basketball, swimming, water polo, rowing, diving, track and field, volleyball and roller hockey off), so in 1952 he titled " Grande Benemerito Atleta " received (Portuguese Large deserving athlete). At the end, a total of 387 medals and 55 items for him to book. In basketball, he took in the years 1924-1927 and 1931 the Campeonato Carioca, volleyball and athletics he won in 1923 and 1927, the state championship in Rio de Janeiro.

For the Brazilian national team, he participated in the World Cup in 1930 as the first captain. He scored the first goal in Brazil at a World Cup against Yugoslavia on Monday, July 14, 1930 at the Parque Central, it could also score two more goals in the second and final group game against Bolivia.

He died on 29 September 1979 at the age of 74 years. In his honor, a statue dedicated Fluminense.

Preguinho was the son of the writer Henrique Coelho Neto Maximiano.
