President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic

The President of Nagorno-Karabakh (Russian Президент Нагорно - Карабахской Республики ) is the head of state of the internationally unrecognized Republic of Nagorno Karabakh, which is de jure part of the Republic of Azerbaijan. After the Declaration of Independence on September 2, 1991, from 7 January 1992 he the Chairman of the Parliament, the head of state. Since December 29, 1994, there is the office of the president, who appoints, among others, the Prime Minister of Nagorno Karabakh. The head of state is elected for a term of five years, the incumbent since September 7, 2007 Bako Sahakjan.
