Primo Zamparini

Primo Zamparini ( born February 9, 1939 in Fabriano, Italy ) is an Italian former bantamweight boxer.

Amateur

Zamparini 1960 and 1961 Italian Champion and won in the same year at the Olympic Games in Rome, the silver medal in the bantamweight. In the final he was defeated by Soviet athletes Oleg Grigoryev.

Professional

In 1961 he became a professional. His first fifteen fights, he finished undefeated ( two draws ). Of the remaining thirteen matches he won only three. Four times he managed a draw, so in March 1963, when he fought for the Italian champion bantamweight titles. Up to three fights in late 1963 in Australia, Zamparini fought exclusively in his home country. The three away fights he lost, among other things, against Oliver Taylor, who brought to Rome the bronze medal in the bantamweight.
