Primula allionii

Allioni Primrose (Primula allionii )

The Allioni Primrose (Primula allionii ) is a plant from the family of Primrose ( Primulaceae ). It occurs in the Alps of northwestern Italy and southeastern France.

Description

The growing singly or in groups Allioni Primrose is a diminutive, perennial, herbaceous plant and has a diameter of about 8 to 10 (up to 20) centimeters.

The approximately 3 to 5 cm long leaves are borne in a basal rosette. The egg-shaped or ovate - oblong and green - grayish leaf blades taper gradually to the stem and are persistent, so that the dried Altblätter enclose the freshen forming rosette. The leaves are dense, fluffy, and sticky glandular hairs ( trichomes ). The leaf margin is serrated or entire.

In short Blütenstandsschäften, which may be lower than the leaf rosette, are doldige inflorescences. The hermaphrodite flowers are radial symmetry and fünfzählig. The five densely occupied with sticky hairs sepals are fused and end with oval - obtuse calyx teeth. The five petals are fused. The corolla tube is longer than the calyx. The bright pink crown has a white eye and a diameter of about 2 to 3 inches. The five flattened Corolla lobe are slightly or significantly notched.

The durable cup is longer than the spherical capsule fruit that opens when ripe with lanceolate pointed capsule teeth.

Occurrence

The Allioni Primrose comes in rocky regions off the western Alps of northwestern Italy and southeastern France.
