Prince Jean, Duke of Guise

Jean Pierre Clément Marie d' Orléans ( born September 4, 1874 in Paris, † August 25 1940 in Larache, Morocco) was from 1926 until his death the head of the House of Orleans and as " Jean III. " The pretender to the French throne. He led the duc de Guise and courtesy title duc d'Orléans after 1926.

Life

He was the son of Robert Philippe Louis Eugène Ferdinand d' Orléans, duc de Chartres, and Françoise d' Orléans. After completing his studies in Paris, he lived from 1891 to 1899 in Denmark, he served in the Army as an officer since 1894. Because the service in the French army he was denied at the outbreak of the First World War he was involved in the Red Cross.

After his brother and cousin Louis Philippe d' Orleans had died erbenlos in 1926, Jean d' Orléans succeeded him in the leadership of the House.
