Prince Louis Charles of Prussia

Friedrich Ludwig Karl of Prussia, called Prince Louis or Louis of Prussia ( born November 5, 1773 in Potsdam, † December 28, 1796 in Berlin) was a Prussian prince and a Prussian major general.

Life

Ludwig was the second son of King Frederick William II of Prussia (1744-1797) from his second marriage with Friederike (1751-1805), daughter of Landgrave Ludwig IX. of Hesse- Darmstadt. Its only a year older second-degree uncle, the Prince of Prussia Friedrich Ludwig Christian - son of Prince Ferdinand - was life called to distinguish it from Louis Prince Louis Ferdinand.

On December 26, 1793 married Prince Louis in Berlin two days after the wedding of his older brother, the Crown Prince Friedrich Wilhelm with the Princess Louise of Mecklenburg -Strelitz, whose sister, Princess Frederica ( 1778-1841 ), daughter of Duke Charles II to Mecklenburg.

1795 the king appointed Prince Louis Chief of the Dragoon Regiment No. 1, whose staff was stationed in Schwedt. To his companions and aides he appointed Lieutenant of Hünerbein.

1796 Prince Louis fell ill with diphtheria, he died shortly afterwards.
