Prince of Sulmona

Prince of Sulmona is - based on the location of Sulmona in the Italian province of L' Aquila - a title that was the first time in 1526 by Emperor Charles V in his capacity as King of Spain Charles de Lannoy, 1522-1524 Viceroy of Naples, awarded. The family died out with the 6th Prince of Sulmona 1604.

A second award was presented to Marc Antonio Borghese, the nephew of Pope Paul V ( Camillo Borghese), lead his descendants the title today. Current title holder is Camillo Borghese (* 1927), the 13th Principe di Sulmona.

The most famous prince of Sulmona is Camillo Filippo Ludovico Borghese (1775-1832), who married Pauline Bonaparte, sister of Napoleon Bonaparte and Duchess of Guastalla.
