Princess Caroline Louise of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach

Karoline Luise of Saxe- Weimar -Eisenach (* July 18, 1786 in Weimar, † January 20, 1816 in Ludwig Lust) was a Princess of Saxe -Weimar- Eisenach by marriage Hereditary Grand Duchess of Mecklenburg -Schwerin.

Life

Caroline was the only surviving daughter of Duke Karl August of Saxe- Weimar -Eisenach (1757-1828) from his marriage to Louise (1757-1830), daughter of Landgrave Ludwig IX. of Hesse- Darmstadt. The princess was carefully educated and trained by Johann Gottfried Herder in religion. Goethe dedicated to her in 1807, the "Travel, dispersing and consolation booklet" 88 landscapes of his hand and wrote to her early death the lodge song: "On the barren beach of life."

Karoline married on July 1, 1810 in Weimar, later Grand Duke Friedrich Ludwig of Mecklenburg- Schwerin, who already had two children from his previous marriage. His father's guest house in Ludwig Friedrich Ludwig pleasure devoted to his wife. It was renamed the Hotel de Weimar.

Caroline stood with almost all Weimar thinkers, but especially Charlotte Lengefeld in frequent correspondence. She died 30 years old, in poor health after the birth of her third child, and advised her husband on her death bed to replace them after her death by her cousin Auguste von Homburg.

Caroline was buried in Helenen Paulownen Mausoleum in the castle park Ludwig pleasure.
