Princess Cecilia of Sweden (1807–1844)

Cecilia of Sweden ( born June 22, 1807 in Stockholm, † January 27, 1844 in Oldenburg) was Princess of Sweden and Grand Duchess of Oldenburg. She was a daughter of Gustav IV Adolf of Schleswig -Holstein - Gottorp, King of Sweden, and Princess Friederike Dorothea of Baden.

Life

Her father was dethroned in 1809 as a Swedish king and in 1810 expelled from the country. 1812 divorced her parents. The mother moved Cecilia and her three siblings Sophie Amalie and Gustav on with her mother the Countess Amalie of Baden in Bruchsal. When she was 22 years old, her mother died in agony from chest dropsy. Since then, she used her erblindende grandmother.
