Princess Louise of Saxe-Hildburghausen

Charlotte Luise Friederike Amalie Alexandrine of Saxe- Hildburghausen ( born January 28, 1794 in Hildburghausen, † April 6, 1825 in Biebrich ) was a princess of Saxe- Hildburghausen and by marriage Duchess of Nassau.

Life

Louise was the youngest daughter of Duke Friedrich of Saxe- Hildburghausen ( since 1826 Duke of Saxe- Altenburg ) and his wife Charlotte of Mecklenburg -Strelitz. One of her godfather was her aunt, Queen Louise of Prussia. With her ​​sisters Charlotte and Therese, it was considered very beautiful, Louise as the prettiest of the three. Friedrich Rückert dedicated the princesses his poem "With three moss roses ".

In 1809, Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria was staying in Hildburghausen castle to seek out a bride. He chose between Louise and Therese for the latter, the older sisters. Luise married on 24 June 1813 in Weilburg William of Nassau, who three years later when William I, Duke of Nassau was.
