Princess Margareta of Romania
Margarita of Romania, also Margarita von Hohenzollern -Sigmaringen, civil Margarita Duda (born 26 March 1949 in Lausanne, Switzerland ) is the eldest daughter of Michael I of Romania, who was the last king of Romania until 1947.
Life
Margarita was born as the daughter of Michael I of Romania ( born 1921 ) and his wife Anne of Bourbon -Parma ( b. 1923 ), daughter of Prince René Charles Joseph Maria and Princess Margaret of Denmark. Your paternal grandparents were King Charles II of Romania and Princess Elena of Greece. Together with her sisters, Elena ( born 1950 ), Irina ( born 1953 ), Sophia ( born 1957 ) and Maria (born 1964 ), she grew up in Switzerland and in the UK.
Margarita studied at Edinburgh University policy and the natural sciences. During her student days in Edinburgh Margarita had a relationship with the late British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. In 1983, she moved to Rome, where she worked at the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Three years later, she joined the International Fund for Agricultural Development ( IFAD). In autumn 1989 she gave up her career at the United Nations and moved to Geneva to work on her father's side for the project for Romania Charity.
