Queen Anne of Romania

Anna de Bourbon -Parma, full name Anna Maria Antonie Françoise Marguerite Zita of Bourbon -Parma ( born September 18, 1923 in Paris ) is a member of the House of Bourbon -Parma.

Life

Princess Anne, the only daughter of Prince Renato de Bourbon -Parma (1894-1962), son of Duke Robert I of Parma, and of Princess Margaret of Denmark (1895-1992), niece of King Frederick VIII of Denmark.

As a member of the House of Bourbon -Parma, she was in November 1947 in London at the wedding of British heiress Elizabeth ( II ) with the Greek Prince Philip. There she met the young King Michael I of Romania know.

On June 10, 1948 she married Michael in the chapel of the royal palace in Athens. Michael had been a few months earlier in Romania deposed as king, but despite the dismissal of her husband, Anna was dubbed the Queen of Romania. However, the pair referred to himself as Prince and Princess of Hohenzollern.

Since the fall of the Ceauşescu regime the couple lives again in the Elisabeth Palace in Bucharest, but without imposing a political function.
