Princess Maria Theresa of Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg
Maria Theresa of Löwenstein -Wertheim -Rosenberg, full first name Maria Theresia Sophie Anna Pia Melchiora ( born January 4, 1870 in Rome, † January 17, 1935 in Vienna) was a daughter of Prince Karl VI. Heinrich Ernst zu Löwenstein -Wertheim -Rosenberg and wife of the then Portuguese pretender to the throne, Duke of Braganza II Miguel.
Life
Maria Theresa of Löwenstein -Wertheim -Rosenberg was the fifth of eight children of Prince Charles VI. Heinrich Ernst zu Löwenstein -Wertheim -Rosenberg and his second wife Sophie of Liechtenstein (1837-1899), daughter of the reigning Prince Alois II ( Liechtenstein ).
The princess married on November 8, 1893 at her family residence Schloss Lowenstein to Kleinheubach the then Portuguese pretender to the throne, Duke of Braganza II Miguel. He was born a cousin of Princess Maria Theresa, as their father Prince Charles VI. a brother of Adelaide of Löwenstein -Wertheim -Rosenberg, mother of the Duke was. He lived as a widower and brought three children from previous union into the marriage; his father was the already long deceased exiled King Michael I of Portugal.
Served Miguel Braganza II as an officer in the Austro-Hungarian army and was eliminated upon entry of Portugal into the First World War from active service. Since October 12, 1917 he held the rank of imperial Feldmarschalleutnants held. He was involved from now on in supranational Order of Malta. Since he was not allowed to enter Portugal, he lived with his family in Prälatenbau of Bronnbach Monastery (now Wertheim ), from 1917 mainly on the ( defunct ) New Palace to Seebenstein in Vienna, where Miguel II died in 1927. He was transferred to Bronnbach and buried in front of the choir area of the Monastery Church of the Assumption. His wife Maria Theresa died in 1935 at the airport Vienna -Aspern and rests in the Carmelite Church Holy Family to Vienna Dobling.

Maria Theresa of Löwenstein -Wertheim -Rosenberg, had with Duke Miguel II eight children. They were:

- Princess Maria Benedita of Braganza (1896-1971)
- Princess Mafalda of Braganza (1898-1918)
- Princess Maria Anna of Braganza (1899-1971) ∞ Karl August von Thurn und Taxis. ( She was the mother of Princess Gloria von Thurn und Taxis )
- Princess Maria Antonia of Braganza (1903-1973) ∞ Sidney Ashley Chanler
- Princess Filippa Maria of Braganza (1905-1990)
- Prince Duarte Nuno of Braganza (1907-1976), chief of the old house Portugal
- Maria Adelaide Manuela Rafaela America Michael of Braganza (1912-2012) ∞ Nicolaas Johannes Maria van Uden
On July 31, 1920 certain Miguel II his son Duarte Nuno II ( 1907-1976 ) as his successor as head of the family. His son, Duarte Pio of Braganza ( b. 1945 ) is the current (2012 ) pretender and head of the House of Braganza. He is the grandson of Princess Maria Theresa of Löwenstein -Wertheim -Rosenberg.
