Princess Sophia Wilhelmina of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld

Sophie Wilhelmine of Saxe- Coburg -Saalfeld ( born August 9, 1693 in Saalfeld, † December 4, 1727 in Rudolstadt ) was a Princess of Saxe -Coburg- Saalfeld and by marriage Princess of Schwarzburg- Rudolstadt.

Life

Sophie Wilhelmine was the eldest daughter of Duke Johann Ernst of Saxe- Saalfeld (1658-1729) from his second marriage with Johanna Charlotte (1664-1699), daughter of Count Josias von Waldeck- Wildungen.

She married on 8 February 1720 in Saalfeld Prince Friedrich Anton of Schwarzburg- Rudolstadt ( 1692-1744 ). The connection of the two houses was three years later deepened by the marriage of Sophie Wilhelmine's brother Franz Josias Friedrich Anton's sister Anna Sophia. The connection with the pious Rudolstädter court meant a promotion of pietism in the Principality of Saalfeld, the Sophie Wilhelmine's half-brother Christian Ernst supported there.
