Princess Theodora of Greece and Denmark (1906–1969)

Princess Theodora of Greece and Denmark ( * May 30, 1906 in Athens, † 16 October 1969 in Konstanz ) was a member of the House of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- Glücksburg.

Life

Theodora was the second daughter of five children of Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark (1882-1944) and his wife Princess Alice of Battenberg ( 1885-1969 ). She was thus a sister of the British Prince Philip Mountbatten Ground, Duke of Edinburgh, aunt of Charles, Prince of Wales, and the granddaughter of paternal King George I of Greece and Grand Duchess Olga Romanova Konstantinovna, a niece of Tsar Alexander II, and mother of Prince Louis of Battenberg (later Louis Mountbatten ) and Princess Victoria of Hesse -Darmstadt, who was a granddaughter of Queen Victoria.

On 17 August 1931 she married Constance Berthold, Margrave of Baden ( 1906-1963 ), only son of the marriage of Maximilian of Baden and his wife Marie - Luise von Hannover- Cumberland, Princess of Great Britain and Ireland ( 1879-1948 ) daughter of Ernst August, Prince of Hanover and his wife Princess Thyra of Denmark. From this marriage the following children were born:

  • Margaret Alice Thyra Viktoria Marie Louise Scholastica (* July 14, 1932 in Salem, † January 15, 2013 in Farnham )
  • Maximilian Andreas Friedrich Gustav Ernst August Bernhard ( born July 3, 1933, Salem)
  • Ludwig Wilhelm Georg Ernst Christoph ( born March 16, 1937 in Karlsruhe)
