Princess Wilhelmine of Baden

Wilhelmine Luise of Baden ( born September 10, 1788 in Karlsruhe, † January 27, 1836 at the Rose height ) was the daughter of the Hereditary Prince Karl Ludwig of Baden and his wife Amalie of Hesse- Darmstadt and Grand Duchess of Hesse and by Rhine.

Life

Wilhelmine married 1804 in Karlsruhe Ludwig of Hesse -Darmstadt. She was the youngest sister of the Empress of Russia, the Queen of Sweden, Queen Caroline of Bavaria and the Grand Duke of Baden. Because of Ludwig's affairs, the couple away from each other soon after, Wilhelmine was born two children.

In 1820 they bought the estate Heiligenberg, where she lived with her eunuch August Freiherr von Senarclens de Grancy and this gave birth to more children, the recognized Ludwig II as his own. Tsarevich Alexander, looking for a wife in Germany, fell in love with the 14 - year-old daughter Marie and married her in 1841, the stigma of their birth well aware. Wilhelmine, however, was already five years earlier died.
