Prionailurus bengalensis ( Bengal )

The Altkatzen ( Prionailurus ) are a predator species of the cat family ( Felidae ). They include five relatively small species that occur exclusively in Asia:

  • Bengal ( Prionailurus bengalensis )
  • Iriomote Cat ( Prionailurus iriomotensis )
  • Flat-headed cat ( Prionailurus planiceps )
  • Rusty-spotted cat ( Prionailurus rubiginosus )
  • Fishing cat ( Prionailurus viverrinus )

Altkatzen are nearly as large as house cats or even smaller, their gray or brown fur may be provided with stains. In general it is rather stocky built animals with small ears and relatively short limbs.
