Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice

The Honor Cross Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice (Latin for " For Church and Pope ") is a papal award for special services to the needs of the Church and the Pope.

Foundation

Was donated the Honour of Pope Leo XIII. on July 17, 1888 on the occasion of his golden jubilee of priestly ordination. It can be awarded to both members of the clergy as well as laymen.

Appearance

The decorations consists of a stylized cross with the arms of each pope and the inscription PRO Ecclesia ET PONTIFICE. In the center of the cross, the apostles Peter and Paul are shown. It is held by a wide ribbon in the church colors yellow and white.
