Procarbazine (trade name: Natulan ®) is a chemotherapy drug that belongs to the group of alkylating agents. It is a prodrug that is converted in Azoprocarbazin. The metabolic pathway is hepatic and in the erythrocytes.
The drug is used, among other things, for the treatment of Hodgkin's disease, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, cerebral neoplasms and in a particular form of lung cancer, small-cell lung cancer.
Common side effects include the emergence of a lack of white blood cells ( leukocytes) and platelets (thrombocytes), so-called leukopenia or thrombocytopenia. Moreover, it may inter alia, to nausea, vomiting, sterility, and sensory disturbances.
