Professional

A professional, short word of veraltend professionist, is someone who pursues an activity as opposed to the amateur or dilettante business or the acquisition of one's livelihood as employment.

The concept of professionalism, especially the adjective professional, is also used as identification of the type of an activity that, in many cases regardless of whether this is done for a fee. This term is also used to describe the quality of a product, in particular the suitability as a reliable tool for professional practice (eg, professional software ).

Professional and professionalism

In general one expects from a professional a formal qualification and higher performance than by an amateur.

A professional will be awarded professional features. The notions of professionalism generally go more or less over uncommitted professional requirements, to actually expect an increased level of knowledge, skills and abilities, a special problem-solving skills and a strong professional distance from a person if - regardless of the fact that it relates income on their activities - as a "professional " is called. It also referred to a role expectation. The term refers to those skills, knowledge or behavior that might be expected in relation to the exercise or carrying out an activity by a person ( a "professional" ) for which this activity is the focus of professional work:

• The expertise of a specialist ( in contrast to the laity or to the colloquial use of the term dilettante ) and, consequently, the knowledge about the consequences of their professional actions ( " A professional knows what he's doing. " ) and the ability to rejection of tasks, the basis of one's own abilities can not be processed with sufficient quality ( knowledge of their own capabilities and limitations )

• The execution of an activity by persons who can demonstrate a certified training for this.

The term " very professional " and " very professional" is considered a compliment to actions and behavior that can be measured to very high standards, using certain characteristics - often a mix of primary and secondary virtues - is brought into relation. Especially the handling of critical situations is thereby considered. As this matter characteristics reliability, decency, fairness, loyalty, integrity, or sense of duty are sometimes called, or civil courage in terms of a willingness to stand up for one's beliefs.

Professional and amateur sports

Athletes who derive their income mainly from their sport, are called as a professional athlete, short ( colloquially ) Professional or Professional or Pro. Thus, there are soccer players (see professional football ), tennis professionals, etc. (see Sports ).
