Prohner Stausee

The dam is a Prohner east of Prohn in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern ( Germany ) lying reservoir. It is located about five kilometers northwest of Stralsund.

The much smaller natural Prohner lake was sealed off before 1920 (according Messtischblatt 1920) there has already been to the village and good with a dike, probably to avoid flooding. The dike was sealed off the Prohner Bach. Therefore, a wind turbine pumping station was installed. Latches dikes to southeast and Prohner Wiek were probably created only during GDR times and thus changed the natural lake to the reservoir. Thus, the Prohner Bach was about 0.5 m (according to TK 10 DDR) under the dam. In the 1960s, the mills were generally replaced by electric pumping stations. The time of the impoundment and the purpose of the system are not recorded. To assume is a water storage for irrigation - northeast of the village is located to another pumping station.
