Prokopov (Znojmo District)

Prokopov ( German Prokop village) is a village in the Czech Republic. It is located nine kilometers southeast of the city Moravské Budějovice and belongs to Okres Znojmo.

Geography

Prokopov is located on a hill between the valleys of the Nedveka and Jevišovka in the South Moravian Thaya Schwarza valley floor. North-west of the village lies the 416 m high hill " Za Ovčírnou " on which a Neolithic hill fort had stood.

Neighboring towns are Hostim in the north, Jiřice u Moravských Budějovic in the east, in the southeast Boskovštejn, Grešlové Mýto in the south, Blanné the southwest, Blížkovice in the West, as well as Vesce and Zverkovice in the northwest.

History

Archaeological finds evidence of a settlement of the place in the Neolithic and Copper Age on the hill " Za Ovčírnou " was a prehistoric hill fort stood.

The real history of the place begins only in 1789. After the Count had acquired the dominion of Gattersburg Hösting, founded in 1789 per capita income of Gattersburg south of Hösting the place Nová Ves / Neudorf, who was nine years later, named after his death as Prokopov / Prokop village. Prokop village shared the history of the reign Hösting that earned 1798 Anton Graf Meraviglia with the associated villages Blann, Boskowstein, Gröschlmaut, Irschitz Prokop village, Roskosch and Zerkowitz.
