History

The company was founded in 1978 under the name " Biotec " in Madison, Wisconsin, as a provider of restriction enzymes by Bill Linton. In 1983, the name Promega Biotec and 1987 finally changed in Promega. The company offers claims to present more than 2500 products for the life science area. It is headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, USA and has 15 sales offices and 50 distributors worldwide. In total, Promega Corp.. more than 1,200 employees.

Production facilities are located in San Luis Obispo, California (USA), Shanghai ( China) and Seoul ( South Korea). The Promega Corp.. founded in 1984, the first biotechnology joint venture in China ( "Sino - American Biotechnology Co. "). Customers from Promega, as stated by research institutes and centers, universities, pharmaceutical and biotechnology research companies, service laboratories and government agencies. The products are used for basic as well as applied research, forensics and industrial / pharmaceutical research.

In 2008 the company had 145 U.S. patents and several more abroad. Promega AG was founded in Switzerland in 1991 under the name Catalys AG. As a subsidiary of Promega Corp.. offers the Swiss office in Dübendorf addition and complementary to products from Promega Corp.. also laboratory and analytical equipment and consumables of Serva GmbH, Molecular BioProducts and Thermo Scientific Company at. Sweden

The Promega Biotech AB serves customers in Sweden, Denmark, Iceland and Estonia and through distributors in Finland and Norway. The branch was opened in early 2008 and is located in Nacka in Stockholm.

Spain

The Spanish branch, Promega Biotech Ibérica, SL, being in January 2005. At the office in Alcobendas, a town north of Madrid, 17 employees serve customers in Spain and Portugal. In 2008, the office of the city Alcobendas for the reconciliation of work and family life and equal treatment of employees was honored.
