Proto-Finno-Ugric language

Urfinnougrisch is a reconstructed proto-language and the source language of the Finno -Ugric languages. It is derived from the Ururalischen which was divided into Urfinnougrisch and Ursamojedisch. However, this classification is not without problems. Urfinnougrisch can also be understood as a geographical group ururalischer dialects, because the differences are small. It is believed that Urfinnougrisch was spoken in the area between the Baltic Sea and the Urals.

Urfinnougrisch had seven cases: nominative, genitive, accusative, locative, allative, ablative, and adverbial, significantly less than some of today's Finno-Ugric language such as Finnish ( 15 cases).
