Protoje

Geez Ken Ollivierre ( born June 14, 1981 in Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica ), better known as Protoje, is a modern roots reggae singer and songwriter from Jamaica. His mother Lorna Bennett is a Jamaican singer, known for her interpretation of Breakfast in Bed from the year 1972. His father is from St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Musical career

Protoje began in 2010 with the label Don Corleon Records to work together, which is run by his cousin Don Corleon, one of Jamaica's most famous producers. After the release of Dread, JA and roll in 2010, his debut album The Seven Year Itch was released on January 25, 2011. It includes, among other songs that were produced with other artists such as Gentleman or Jah9. Responsible for his early popularity in Jamaica was mainly the first single argument ( 2009). In 2011, another single titled Rasta Love in cooperation with Ky- Mani Marley, one of Bob Marley published sons. The Seven Year Itch in Canada rose in 2nd place, 3rd place in the U.S. and # 4 in France in the charts. On February 12, 2013 Finally, his second album, The 8 Year Affair was published. On the same evening Protoje celebrated the release party of the album in the Tuff Gong studios in Jamaica. In 2013, Protoje toured on the Music from my Heart tour of the United States and Europe. On the tour he was accompanied by the band The Indiggnation. He also contributed to Kabaka Pyramids Lead The Way EP (2013 ) as well as on Jah9s album New Name ( 2013) for each a guest appearance and his album The 8 Year Affair was voted by the readers of reggae ville for best album of 2013. Beginning of 2014 he went to the West Coast of the United States to the In This Nation Tour and published together with Chronixx on March 18, the single Who Knows. For the summer of 2014 further festival appearances in the United States and Europe are planned.
