Protozoal merogony

The schizogony or merogony is a form of asexual reproduction in single-celled organisms, especially in the Apicomplexa. This converts the original core through simple numerous mitoses daughter nuclei in the cell body, from which, after the collapse of the mother cell, the schizonts (these have in tertian malaria usually eight cores), new individuals emerge ( merozoites ).
