Province of Canada

The province of Canada, or the United Province of Canada (French Province du Canada or Canada 's University, English Province of Canada) was from 1841 to 1867 was a British colony in North America.

The province was created by the union of the British colonies Lower Canada and Upper Canada. This former colonies were informally known as eastern Canada (for low- Canada ) and Western Canada ( for Upper Canada). Lower Canada and Upper Canada were merged in 1841 by the British Union Act of July 23, 1840 to the province of Canada. This was in 1867 in the Canadian province of the separate provinces of Quebec and Ontario.
